The entry deadline for the 2012 Best Books of Indiana Contest has expired. The entry period for the 2013 contest for books published in 2012 will open in September 2012.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Any individual, organization, or company may enter in any appropriate category.
  • Books considered for this award must have an Indiana theme, or the author must live or have lived in Indiana.
  • Books must have an ISBN and have been originally published between January 1 and December 31, 2011.

JUDGING

A panel of three judges in each category will consider all entries and will grant awards at their discretion. Entries are judged on the quality of writing, with organization and interpretation also considered.

DEADLINES

  • Entries must be postmarked or delivered in person by Friday, April 6, 2012.
  • Finalists will be notified on or after July 31, 2012 (subject to total entry count).
  • Winners will be announced in August 2012.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • No entry fee is required.
  • Entrants must submit five copies for consideration.
  • Entrants are responsible for all shipping costs (materials sent C.O.D. will be refused).
  • The judges have the right to change the category of an entry.

About the Best Books of Indiana

The Best Books of Indiana contest was created to honor Indiana's long and illustrious literary heritage and recognize Hoosier authors. All current and past Best Books of Indiana entries are available in the Indiana State Library's collections. One copy of each contest entry circulates to State Library patrons and is available via interlibrary loan to all Hoosiers at their local public, school or academic libraries. One copy does not circulate and remains in the State Library's collections indefinitely.
