Services for the Public

Borrower's Cards - Any Indiana resident is eligible for a borrower's card from the Indiana State Library.

Collections(see left navigation) - The Indiana State Library holds a variety of research collections that can assist you in your work.

Databases and Indexes - There are many databases and indexes available through the Indiana State Library that can assist you in your work or hobbies.

Events and Workshops - Upcoming workshops and events hosted by the Indiana State Library.

Exhibitions - View online exhibits from the Indiana State Library's collections, or visit the Indiana State Library for more exhibits.

Genealogy Collections - One of the largest collections of family history information is available in the Indiana State Library.

Indiana Collections - The Indiana State Library has one of the largest and broadest collections of books, maps, newspapers, manuscripts, and more on Indiana.

Interlibrary Loan - If you cannot visit in person to borrow materials, circulating items may be borrowed through your local public, academic or special library. Contact your local public library for assistance and information.

Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped - The Special Services Division provides books on tape, Braille books, and large print books to Indiana's citizens with visual or physical impairments.

Subject Guides to Collections - Lists of books, manuscripts, and other materials available on particular topics related to Indiana, ranging from basketball to World War II.

Tours of the Indiana State Library - Attend a tour of the Indiana State Library, or arrange for a special tour for your organization, class, or group.  To set up a special tour you may contact us at,  317-232-3675, or our IN-Watts line at 1-800-622-4970.

Web-based Tools - Find dictionaries, biographies, and other tools available on the World Wide Web.

Shop at the Indiana Historical Bureau - A discount on books and other publications is available at the shop in the Indiana Historical Bureau.
