2016 Mumps Outbreaks

The Indiana State Department of Health has confirmed outbreaks of mumps at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), Purdue University in West Lafayette, and Butler University in Indianapolis. An additional 68 non-university-affiliated cases, with and without known links to university cases, have been identified across Indiana since February. Case counts will be updated each Friday. Please keep in mind that these counts are part of an ongoing investigation and counts may change pending new information.

Confirmed cases as of July 8, 2016:

  • Indiana University: 72
  • Purdue: 59
  • IUPUI: 8
  • Butler University: 24 (Outbreak declared over on May 9th, 2016)
