Federal Surplus FAQ

Is there a handling charge?
Indiana Federal Surplus charges a nominal fee that covers handling expenses. Handling expenses usually run from 1% to 10% of the original acquisition cost and are based upon transportation costs and the condition of the property. A direct pick up (in which the donee picks up the surplus property from a government facility) may impact the handling charge. Federal Surplus Screeners will be happy to explain the procedures for direct pick up.

What methods of Payment are accepted?
The donee receives a copy of the invoice at the time of purchase. The donee is then sent the original invoice via mail and has 30 to 90 days to make full payment. The only acceptable method of payment is a check from the donee organization's account. All other forms of payment will be rejected. State agencies are interdepartmentally billed.

Am I Eligible?
Please refer to the Eligibility Requirements for a breakdown of agencies eligible for Indiana Federal Surplus property.
