Many of Indiana's pioneer doctors are known to us by little more than their names and date of license, as provided by license rolls or individual certificates.

Thanks to the efforts of many of Indiana's local historians and librarians, more biographical information on many of these doctors is available at the local and county levels. The information that they curate ensures that the individual stories of these doctors will remain available to future researchers.

We are deeply grateful to all of the local historians who generously provided information about the medical histories of their respective counties, and their doctors. While we have been unable to reproduce all of that information here, all that they have provided is available through our collection of research documents for this project.

We hope to add more biographies as space and time allows.
