Southport Police Department Cadet Program

Seal

The Southport Police Department Cadet Program welcomes students between the ages of 14 and 20.  Cadets must be of good moral character, have no criminal history, and have a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 (c average).  The Cadet must at least be a first-year student in a high school program.  The Southport Cadet Program is for young men and women who are interested in law enforcement, or a field related to it.

The Southport Police Department Cadet Program offers young adults a personal awareness of the criminal justice system through training, practical program experiences, competition, and other activities.  Additionally, the program promotes personal growth through character development, respect for the rule of law, physical fitness, good citizenship, and patriotism.

The Cadets meet twice monthly on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 6:00pm.

A police cadet is a civilian member of the police department who gets to experience the career of a police officer through completing class assignments, receiving professional development workshops, and hands-on training.
