About Us
A Township Trustee is an elected official in local government responsible for administering a township—a political subdivision of a county. Like most state officials, the Trustee serves a four-year term. Debbie Driskell, the current Trustee for Delaware Township, has held office since January 1, 1991. In addition to her duties as Trustee, she also serves as the Executive Director of the Indiana Township Association. Under the Trustee's leadership, we are proud to deliver essential services that support stability, promote well-being, and strengthen our community.
Mission - To serve the citizenry of Delaware Township by providing relevant services while discerning the efficient use of tax dollars; and present this office as the standard of why grassroots government should continue as the first line of defense for township citizens.
- Developing a top-quality team of servant-leaders who embrace our values; who are technologically and procedurally skilled; who seek ways to increase our level of service; and who desire to pursue excellence in all that we do.
- Providing the means for improving of the socio-economic status of the community by:
- Dedication of facilities and resources for use by partners who share the mission;
- Administering township and food pantry assistance in a timely, dignified and courteous manner.
- Providing facilities where the community can congregate for purposes of promoting education, family ties, economic development or social intercourse at little or no cost to them.
- Building relationships and partnerships with volunteers, agencies, government and community leasers, and other organizations to bring a higher level of service with internal and external economies of scale.

**Delaware Township Community Center Temporarily Closed for Restoration After Lightning Strike**
Delaware Township, May 16, 2025 — The Delaware Township Community Center is temporarily closed after sustaining significant damage from a lightning strike on the evening of May 13. The incident resulted in a fire and subsequent flooding, rendering the facility temporarily uninhabitable.
Restoration efforts began promptly the next morning and are expected to continue over the coming months as extensive repairs are made. The community's response has been overwhelmingly supportive and encouraging, reflecting the strong spirit of Delaware Township.
"We are grateful for the outpouring of support from our community," said Trustee Debbie Driskell. "We look forward to celebrating and welcoming everyone back to the community center as quickly as possible."
Updates on the restoration process will be provided as work progresses. The township appreciates the patience and understanding of all residents during this time.
