Howard County Utilities

Howard County Utilities - which provides service in the Green Acres Subdivision near Kokomo - filed a request in August to raise its flat, monthly residential sewer rate from $69.00 to $153.92.

A settlement agreement will allow for the utility's sale and will set a new monthly rate of $123.35. It received approval in a November 18, 2020 IURC order.

An IURC public field hearing was held in Kokomo on November 6, 2019. The OUCC issued an October 24, 2019 news release to invite consumer comments.

On November 14, 2019, the IURC stayed the initial rate case until further notice. This included suspending the OUCC's deadline to file testimony.

On March 23, 2020, the utility and Green Acres Subdivision filed a proposal to sell the utilities assets, including establishment of a new monthly rate of $151.47.

In testimony, (Corey, Dellinger, and Parks) the OUCC recommended reducing that amount to $120.42.

Public files for the rate case (Cause No. 45283-U) and proposed sale (Cause No. 45360) are available on the IURC website.
