Duke Energy is seeking IURC approval to build a new natural gas-fired power plant that would replace the coal-fired Cayuga Generating Station in Vermillion County, including permission to recover costs through future rates.
In testimony, the utility estimates project costs at approximately $3.33 billion.
The OUCC filed the following testimony on May 8, 2025 recommending denial of the request as proposed:
Duke Energy and Reliable Energy, Inc. filed a settlement agreement on June 17, 2025. Separately, Duke Energy and industrial customers who have intervened in the case filed a settlement agreement on July 11, 2025.
The OUCC filed responsive testimony on Aug. 5, 2025.
