Tattoo Permits

Permit Information

To be permitted to perform tattooing and/or body piercing in Harrison County, an artist and establishment must:

  • Be in compliance with Harrison County Health Department Ordinance 2018-14;
  • Provide a Certificate of annual Blood Borne Pathogen Training;
  • Obtain a Health Department Tattoo & Body Piercing Permit for the establishment for $50.00 per calendar year. See below for Establishment Application;
  • Obtain a Health Department Tattoo & Body Piercing License for each artist for $30.00 per calendar year. See below for Artist Application;
  • A temporary, mobile, or off-site facility must obtain a Health Department Temporary Facility Permit for $10.00/day for a maximum of 7 days;
  • Permits are valid from January 1 through December 31 of any given year;

Establishment and Artist Applications

Mail or bring the completed application(s) to the health department office at 241 Atwood Street, Suite 200, Level B1, Corydon, Indiana, 47112, along with the appropriate fees in cash, check money order, or credit/debit card. **Note that cash and cards can only be accepted in person at the office window.  Card usage adds an additional 3% fee.

You will then receive your receipt and permit(s). If appropriate personnel is not in the office at the time you pay, your permit(s) may be mailed to you.
