The Importance of Personal Emails for Your Employees

By Brandi Alexander - August 2, 2024

It’d be great to retain your employees for the remainder of their careers, but the reality is, many people change jobs over their working life.

Even if your organization boasts many long-time employees, the reality is that eventually they’ll retire. And if you or your employees provided their work email addresses to their INPRS accounts when they first became members of their plan, they’re at risk of losing contact with us, potentially missing out on critical account updates, alerts, and opportunities.

Here's what you can do to help your employees:

  • Require personal email addresses be provided for new employee contact.
  • Review email address submissions for completion. Tip: a missing “.” or “@” will render an email undeliverable. Watch for typing errors!
  • Reinforce the importance of connecting with INPRS via email. If a member moves and doesn’t provide a new address, email is often the only way of communicating vital information like investing updates, vesting milestones, and more.
  • Update your training manuals to ensure all team members with ERM access are ready and willing to protect their employees’ INPRS access by reinforcing these best practices.

Encourage your current employees to update their accounts with their personal email address and remind them that INPRS strives to only deliver the most essential, relevant communication. Members can log on to myINPRSretirement.org and update their contact information, beneficiaries, and even investment options, if their plan allows, at any time.

Thank you for helping your employees stay connected with INPRS for a lifetime!
