First Dog Henry Holcomb is a 10-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, who lives at the Governor’s Residence with two humans he knows as Mom and Dad. You might know them as Governor and First Lady Holcomb.
Henry picked out his forever humans by crawling into his Dad's lap to take a nap when he was about 2 months old.
Henry's favorite food is chicken, which became very confusing when he became the brother and guardian of four actual chickens in 2020. Due to a previous "incident" with a hen, he was slowly introduced to sisters Violet, Peony, Daisy, and Iris. Henry has become an excellent big brother and has been known to herd the hens when they wander too far from their coop.
Henry loves the outdoors, particularly hiking in Indiana State Parks. He signals his excitement for his daily walk by barking at his humans until they are headed out the door, leash in hand. He also enjoys chasing squirrels, naps, visits to the statehouse, and meeting Hoosiers.
Henry has plenty of experience being a professional pooch. His first job was serving as office dog for manufacturing business, R&R Engineering, located in Summitville, Indiana, where he worked with First Lady Holcomb.
