Saying Goodbye & Hello: IGIO Intern News

This month we celebrated and sent our best wishes to Brooklyn Coultas as she wrapped up her internship with the Indiana Geographic Information Office. Brooklyn has been with us since October 2025 and has made a remarkable impact through her work on GIS Day planning, survey research, and her creative support on communications and design projects.

Brooklyn is graduating from the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis with a bachelor’s in marketing and a minor in Spanish, earning Dean’s List honors all four years. Her dedication, insight, and positive energy have been such an asset to our team.

We’re excited about her next step as she joins Hotel Carmichael as an Assistant Marketing Manager with Coury Hospitality. Brooklyn, thank you for everything you’ve contributed, we’re cheering you on as you start this next chapter!

We are excited to welcome Dishant Sharma to the Enterprise and Infrastructure team as our data science summer intern. He will primarily focus on developing datasets using GeoAI tools to create meaningful products from IGIO’s high‑resolution aerial imagery and LiDAR datasets, utilizing both COTS and the ESRI suite of products. His work will support several of our ongoing geospatial initiatives and help accelerate innovation across the team.

Dishant is currently a PhD candidate in Geospatial Data Science at Northern Illinois University, where he focuses on applying machine learning techniques to improve geospatial modeling. He holds both master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Geography and previously spent several months working with the United Nations under the Nairobi Work Program before beginning his PhD in 2023. He is passionate about leveraging science and technology to create positive impact.

Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Dishant enjoys staying active through yoga and gym workouts. He’s also a dedicated nature enthusiast who appreciates hiking and forest walks.
