IGIO Grants: SEED and ATLAS Deadlines Approaching
The Indiana Geographic Information Office (IGIO) is proud to continue its mission of advancing geospatial innovation across the state through two impactful funding programs: the SEED Grant and the ATLAS Grant. Each is designed to support different sectors of Indiana’s geospatial community—from county governments to educational institutions—and both have fast-approaching deadlines.
🌱 SEED Grant Program for County Government: The SEED Grant is a non-competitive, reimbursement-based funding opportunity that supports GIS development in county government. Since its launch, 54 counties have applied. With only five months remaining, time and funding are limited. The program is structured to award eight grants per month, but if fewer applications are submitted in the final months, not all counties may be guaranteed funding. A complete application is all that’s required—funding is guaranteed for applicants who commit to improving their data in alignment with program requirements.
📅 Next SEED Deadline: September 9, 2025: Applying early increases your chances of securing funding and allows more time for project planning and coordination. To explore eligibility, discuss project ideas, or begin the application process, contact us at giogrants@iot.in.gov. For full program details, visit SEED Grant Overview.
🎓 ATLAS Grant for Educational Institutions and Non-Profits: The Advancing Technology for Learning and Applied Spatial Solutions (ATLAS) Grant empowers colleges, universities, schools, and non-profits to:
- Advance applied geospatial research
- Foster understanding of geographic concepts across disciplines
- Enhance accessibility of geographic data
- Promote best practices in data management and analysis
📅 ATLAS Grant Application Deadline: September 26, 2025: To support applicants, IGIO will host a second informational webinar on September 4, 2025, from 2:00–3:00 p.m. EST via Teams. Webinar details can be found here: ATLAS Education and Spatial Solutions Grant September Webinar. This session will repeat content from the first webinar and provide guidance on eligibility, timelines, and project planning. A recording of the first webinar is available on the ATLAS Grant website.
📬 Apply Today: Both programs offer unique opportunities to invest in Indiana’s geospatial future. Whether you're improving county-level GIS data or advancing spatial education and research, now is the time to act. Submit your application via the SBA: State Agency Grant Opportunities portal.
