ArcGIS Pro Training Workshop in Northwest Indiana

The Indiana Geospatial Training Academy (IN-GTA) is bringing a two-day, instructor-led ArcGIS Pro workshop to Northwest Indiana this March. Hosted at Valparaiso University’s Ferencz Kallay Geospatial Applications Lab, this hands-on training is designed for beginners and early-career professionals looking to build a strong foundation in GIS using ArcGIS Pro.

Through guided instruction and practical exercises, participants will learn how GIS supports real-world problem-solving and informed decision-making across Indiana and beyond.

Workshop Details

Once registered, attendees will receive full location and parking details to assist with planning their visit.

Day 1: Foundations & Mapping
  • GIS Fundamentals – Understand what GIS is and how it creates opportunities across Indiana
  • Navigating ArcGIS Pro – Explore core capabilities and confidently use the interface
  • Creating Maps – Design effective, visually compelling maps to communicate spatial information
  • Data Fundamentals – Learn key data types and tools for managing and documenting GIS data
Day 2: Data, Analysis & Application
  • Data Sources – Access free GIS data available in Indiana and beyond
  • Working with Tables – Use essential tools and techniques for managing tabular data
  • The Power of Selection – Answer spatial and attribute-based questions using selection tools
  • Beyond the Fundamentals – Preview online GIS, advanced spatial analysis, and additional capabilities

Class Project – Apply new skills to a realistic use case

Wrap-Up – Review key concepts and next steps

This workshop offers a valuable opportunity for professionals in Northwest Indiana’s geospatial community to strengthen their ArcGIS Pro skills close to home.
