Communication Modes or Technology app that works for communication accessibility

Deaf / Hard of Hearing-- American Sign Language (ASL) Users Technology:

  • Videophones from Video Relay Service companies Sorenson/Purple Z VRS
  • INTRAC: equipment at no charge for Deaf/HoH, *iPads, *cell phones, Cap-Tel phones
  • Home Flashers:
    • Alarm Clocks with bed vibrator or light flasher
    • Light Flasher for videophone
    • Doorbell with light flasher
  • Pager used for sound alert (new technology) either with a hearing aid or none- unfortunately, it is required to get advanced *SMART phone.
  • Several apps for vibration alert for emergency issues.
  • Television and Closed Captioning
  • Limited access to Closed Captioning in theatre
    • Sony Entertainment Access glasses
    • (CaptiView) Small display with a flexible arm that can be attached to the arm of the seat

    • *Apps for features to enhance Hearing Aid experience

    • Accessories for group discussions or meetings: (depending on the manufacturer of the hearing aid there may be others)
