Unemployment Insurance
Furloughed Workers
If you have been furloughed as a direct result of the federal government shutdown, you may be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits. If you do receive benefits and the federal government later issues back pay for the work you missed during the furlough (as it has historically), you will receive an overpayment notice and you will be required to repay unemployment insurance benefits you collected during that time. View the Federal Shutdown: Indiana Unemployment Insurance Benefits FAQs to get answers to your questions. Also, view the Claimant Handbook to learn more about the Indiana Unemployment Insurance Benefits process. If you have questions, call the DWD Unemployment Insurance Call Center at 1-800-891-6499.
If you are unemployed due to no fault of your own, you may be eligible for unemployment insurance. All claims for unemployment insurance benefits must be filed through Uplink, the online filing system. But before you click here to file a claim for unemployment insurance, check out the unemployment insurance videos. These videos contain answers to your frequently asked questions.
