The Department of Natural Resources provides a variety of ways for citizens to make a difference in maintaining, improving, and restoring Indiana's natural and cultural heritage. Opportunities are available for individuals, groups, and families to participate. We also offer unpaid internships for school credit.

What interests you?

Here’s a list of some of the ways citizens work with DNR:

  • Maintain trails
  • Monitor birdhouses
  • Remove invasive plants
  • Clean up waterways
  • Act as a Nature Center Attendant
  • Share photography or artwork
  • Assist with carpentry projects
  • Act as campground hosts
  • Assist with cemetery surveys, archaeological work, and history research
  • Plant rare native plants
