Opt Outside with Indiana DNR

Opt Outside with DNR on Black Friday (Nov. 29, 2019) to enjoy our state parks, reservoirs, state forests, fish & wildlife areas, off-road riding areas and nature preserves. There are three great ways to participate and win great prizes, ranging from annual entrance passes to hands-on experiences.

Share your photos

Post your photos on any DNR social media site on Friday, Nov. 29 using the hashtag #OptOutsideIN2019 and you’ll be entered in a drawing for one of these prizes:

  • DNR 2020 annual entrance passes
  • DNR permits (horse tag, off-road cycling permit, lake permits)
  • Outdoor Indiana subscriptions
  • An off-road riding tour for three at Interlake State Recreation Area (SRA) or Redbird SRA
  • A rod and reel
  • Two nights of free camping at J.E. Roush Lake Fish & Wildlife Area (FWA)
  • Two nights of camping at a state park (tent, other basic equipment and fixings for one camp meal provided)
  • A guided night hike with an interpretive naturalist for a group of up to 15

Stay overnight

Go camping or stay at an inn on Black Friday and share your photos on the Indiana State Parks Facebook page on Friday, Nov. 29 with the hashtag #OptOutsideCAMP or #OptOutsideINN. The first 25 people to post photos will receive an OptOutside-logoed fleece ear band, and all will be entered in a drawing for one of these prizes:

  • $50 Indiana camping gift card
  • $50 Indiana State Park inns gift card

Do our OptOutside Scavenger Hunt

Download the scavenger hunt, complete it on your own or with friends or family on Black Friday and return it to SPContests@dnr.IN.gov by Monday, Dec. 9. The first 25 submissions will receive an OptOutside-logoed fleece earband, and all submissions will be entered in a drawing for one of these prizes:

  • DNR 2020 annual entrance passes
  • Smokey Bear materials
  • 2020 Outdoor Indiana calendars
  • Two hours of free shooting for up to two people at one of several DNR shooting ranges
  • An off-road riding tour for three at Interlake SRA or Redbird SRA
  • A free two-hour guided kayaking tour for as many as eight people with an interpretive naturalist at a state park or reservoir where offered.
  • Choose one of four experience options that include helping biologists band migratory birds in the northwest or southwest portion of the state, assisting with wildlife surveys in southwest Indiana, observing how steelhead trout eggs are collected at Bodine Fish Hatchery in northeast Indiana, or assisting in catching fish out of the lamprey barrier trap in northeast Indiana.
