Proposed problem-solving court rules

Notice

April 23, 2026

The Problem-Solving Courts Committee proposes comprehensive amendments to the Problem-Solving Court Rules. The proposed amendments are based on the updated Adult Treatment Court Best Practice Standards. Major changes include:

  1. Adds a new simplified administrative review process when certification has been denied or limitations have been placed on a certified court.
  2. Amends the qualifications for the coordinator and case manager positions to allow for a combination of education and paid work experience in criminal justice or human services, and paid work experience in criminal justice or human services alone. Two new definitions are proposed for criminal justice and human services.
  3. Adds continuing legal education requirements for judicial officers.
  4. Amends the team composition by limiting members to those individuals who have a duty to monitor the participant.
