I am proud to serve as Sheriff of Grant County and work towards building a safer Grant County. Serving is my priority and that is the reason that I have served my Country, State, and City for the last 34 years.  I am a Conservative Republican who believes that we can provide great public safety while being fiscally responsible to the taxpayers of our county.  My focus as Sheriff is the following:

-    Community

-    Communication/Collaboration

-     Constitution

My relationship with Christ began when I was fifteen years old. My life was transformed when I gave my life to Christ and became a Christian. This gave me purpose and direction for my life. In Christ, I found that my purpose was to serve, which is why I have spent my adult life serving others.

My family includes my wife of 33 years, Tammy, and we are blessed with two sons, Joshua and Jason. We have also been blessed with a wonderful grandchildren, Jensen, Jhett, and Jia. Faith is important to my family and me, and we call The River Church home.

I have an extensive educational background. I am a 1988 graduate of Marion High School. I earned my Associate's degree in Business from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Liberty University. I am also a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, and I graduated from the Southern Police Institute, which is a part of the University of Louisville.

I am a military veteran where I served 9 years in the Indiana Army National Guard, with four of those years as a full-time active soldier.

I have also served the city of Marion as a city councilman. I was elected in 2004 by my fellow citizens and served as Council President in 2007 and 2008.

I retired from the Marion Police Department after serving over 26 years in various roles, including patrol, detectives, and narcotics. I served as co-director of the JEAN Team Drug Task Force. I also served as a Detective Sergeant, where I was a supervisor in the violent crimes unit. I finished my career with the Marion Police Department as a Patrol Sergeant.

My heart is serving our community!
