Activities

Travelers have come to know and love the outdoor recreational facilities of France Park, with scenic trails, a beautiful waterfall, a clear swimming lake with picturesque cliffs, a designated fishing lake (Fishing license required and no gas motors), and spacious camping facilities.

Camping

There are over 200 wooded campsites, both primitive and electric. Primitive sites are available only on a first-come-first-serve basis. Reserve a modern site by calling or e-mailing France Park. 130 sites have electricity which consists of 30 amp, 50 amp, and 110 Volt plug-ins. Water hook-up is also available for most modern sites. There is no direct sewer hook up but we do provide a dump station. We also have one Primitive Cabin. It has a bunk bed and a double bed, which sleeps four people in total. NO Dogs are allowed in the Cabin. The campground has two shower houses, one newly built with private shower rooms, and several playgrounds, there is also The Old Kenith Depot Store that sells ice, groceries, fishing and camping supplies, and ice cream. Everything the camper needs!

Swimming

  • Swimming season ends every year after labor day weekend.

Come join us on our sandy beach that looks out into the beautiful Quarry Cliffs. It is the perfect place to come and cool off during those hot summer days. Kayaks are permitted when Scuba Divers are not present. Swimming Hours are over at 8:00 P.M. Every day.

Scuba Diving

Indy Dive Center provides weekend scuba diving opportunities inside France Park. We have it all: from interesting dive attractions to dramatic local aquatic life to breathtaking cliff tops. Just a few reasons why divers have been scuba diving at France Park for more than 50 years. Visit the Indy Dive Center for full details.

Hiking

Walk, run, or hike through our wooded and open trails! Discover some of the secrets hidden within the depths of France Park hardly touched by the campgrounds. Several, but not all, of the trails are marked, and we provide maps, but we can't guarantee you won't get lost in the beauty of the plains, woodlands, and cliff-sides!

Fishing

Welcome to Elzbeck Lake, where the Park's waterfalls feed this Gorgeous area which then drains into the Wabash River. The lake is approximately 7 to 8 feet in depth and is partially covered with lily pads which provide the perfect environment for Large Mouth Bass, Red Ear Blue Gill, and Crappie. The surrounding Quarry is lined with Limestone and is the perfect spot to kick back and relax. The Park also provides a boat ramp which is located on the south end of the fishing lake.

Biking

The fifteen miles of trails within France Park range from flat and easy to gnarly and difficult. Some descents will cause cyclists to take pause and consider walking down. A few cobbled climbs will have most cyclists dismounting and doing a cyclo-cross impersonation. There are plenty of flat sections, however, that offer a nice respite between challenges. Trail surfaces are single-track, double-track, gravel, and asphalt. The price of admission is included in the $5 gate fee, and helmets are mandatory. While paying for the use of these wonderful trails may not be ideal, know that much of the money is invested back into the upkeep of the trails!

Frisbee Disc Golf

Cut through a scenic, wooded section of the park using New Discraft Chain Star Pro baskets, or Play the shorter layout with a mix of Mach III and Spider Web III baskets. Seven holes are open and nearly flat, while the other 17 holes are hilly and in the forest. There is an OB paved path on a couple of holes. Any casual water is not OB but, there is an OB pond behind hole one's basket. This course offers disc golf for a beginner or a seasoned Pro. Remember to bring your discs!

Miniature Golf

Kids and adults alike can enjoy our 9-hole mini golf course! Come on up to the gatehouse at the entrance of the Park for your clubs and balls only for $3! You're welcome to play as many rounds as you and your kids can handle! Upon return of your clubs, get $1 back per person!
