Welcome to the City of Southport!

The City of Southport was established in 1832 and was one of the first Marion Country communities to be incorporated in 1853. In 1969, Southport chose to be an “excluded” city within uni-gov, the consolidation of Indianapolis and Marion County governments, thereby retaining its unique presence on the edge of the big city. As of the census of 2010, there were 1,712 people, 696 households, and 484 families living in the city.
