Funds are available for the costs associated with establishing curbside recycling, drop-off recycling, recycling processing, and yard waste collection and management.
Funds may be used to support education and outreach programs that inform the public of substitutes for typical household hazardous products, product facilities for the proper handling, collection, storage, recycling or disposal of HHW and Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator (CESQG) waste.
Funds may be used for IDEM approved civil engineering field projects that utilize waste tire material, research and development efforts that explore the use of waste tire material in high value-added products, projects that involve the beneficial reuse of waste tires in the construction of sports and other recreational fields, and trial and implementation efforts aimed at converting waste tires into fuel alternatives or supplements for energy generation applications.
This program provides loans and grants to promote and assist recycling throughout Indiana by focusing on economic development efforts.
PEP grants provide funding only to solid waste management districts (SWMDs) for educating students, teachers, citizens, communities, and businesses about source reduction and recycling programs. Promoting these educational programs to build public awareness is key to achieving outstanding participation rates and success in diverting solid waste from Indiana landfills.
