UPDATE: An IURC order in this case (19 pages) was issued on January 29, 2014.

Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) is seeking Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) approval of a proposed, federally required Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance project. NIPSCO is also seeking approval to recover the project's costs through electric rates as allowed by Indiana law.

This case is pending as IURC Cause No. 44340. The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) filed testimony on August 19, 2013:

NIPSCO's petition (19 pages) and testimony (119 pages) are available through the IURC's Electronic Document System.

According to the utility's testimony, the CIP project's first-year capital costs would total about $5.5 million, with ongoing costs of approximately $1.2 million per year. Rate adjustments for the ongoing costs would be made every six months subject to OUCC review and IURC approval.
