The IURC has approved a settlement agreement between the OUCC and the Town of Ellettsville.

The approved agreement sets new base rates for the town's water utility. It limits the water rate increase to 21.7 percent, compared to the 24.6 percent increase originally requested by the town. Terms include the elimination of the surcharge on customers outside of the town limits.

Sewer rates were not at issue in this case, with state law not giving the IURC authority over municipal sewer utilities. The OUCC issued a September 28, 2015 news release to invite written consumer comments.

Ellettsville's previous water rates were approved in 2009.
