Doe Creek Sewer Utility Rate Case

UPDATE: A Commission order was issued on Aug. 10, 2022, approving the settlement agreement.

Doe Creek Sewer Utility, Inc. provides service in Hancock County and is seeking a rate increase in a pending IURC case.

All publicly filed documents in the case (Cause No. 45655-U) are available on the Commission's website.

  • The utility initially proposed raising its minimum monthly residential rate from $48.00 to $84.15.
  • A settlement agreement and supporting testimony from the OUCC were filed on May 25, 2022. The agreement would allow for a new monthly rate of $76.75, to be reduced to $70.00 when the utility has added 55 new customers in a proposed development.
  • The IURC may approve, modify, or deny any settlement it considers.
  • Doe Creek filed its request through the state's Small Utility Filing Procedure, which is aimed at reducing rate case expenses while not reducing the standard of review by the OUCC and IURC.

An IURC public field hearing was held in Greenfield on Feb. 22, 2022. The OUCC issued a Feb. 8, 2022 news release inviting public comments.

The IURC approved Doe Creek Sewer Utility's current rates in 2009.
