Since 2005, over 16,000 students have participated in at least a portion of the program, either academic or career exploration. Our partners at the Boys & Girls Clubs administer a pre-test and a post-test in both subject areas to gauge the progress of each child enrolled in Mitch’s Kids. The children are provided after school tutoring, homework help and career-related study. The concrete results being measured have proven that low-income kids are fully capable of academic success. Here are the composite results to date:
The average child enters 8 months behind in reading and 7 months behind in math*
The average child improves or gains 5.5 months in reading and 7 months in math*
*(the test administered is the Woodcock-Johnston Tests of Achievement)
