Governor Mitch Daniels
My dad, Mitch Sr., was one of the great mentors in my life. Early on, he instilled in me the virtue of hard work, and the importance of starting even the most difficult job as quickly as possible.
Lt. Governor Becky Skillman
I would like to say that there was a woman in some high-up office who took me under her wing and helped me find my calling. The truth is there were no women in positions like that when I was getting started. I ran for my first public office when I was 25 years old. On Election Day, I remember traveling around Lawrence County doing some last-minute campaign work. The man who mentored me was just as busy as I was, and I bumped into him quite a few times that day. My Grandfather was hard at work getting out the vote for me. His name was Edmund Flinn, and he had a huge impact on my life.
