After his first trial resulted in convictions and a sentence of death, Thompson was granted a new trial on appeal in Thompson v. State, 690 N.E.2d 224 (Ind. 1997). At the new trial, a jury found Thompson guilty of murdering two men in Indianapolis, among other crimes, and the Marion Superior Court again sentenced Thompson to death. This is an appeal of the convictions and sentence.
