Volunteer at IVH

Help give back to Indiana's veterans and their spouses!

The Indiana Veterans’ Home is committed to providing the best possible service and environment for our residents. In addition to quality care, IVH takes great pride in the expanded services, activities, and resources offered here. Thanks to the generous number of volunteers who support the IVH with the gift of thousands of hours of service each year, we are able to provide an enriched quality of life through companionship and by enhancing the care of our residents.

There are many types of volunteering opportunities at the IVH! Examples of volunteer activities include: nursing unit comfort care workers, wheelchair transporters, resident companion visitors, gift shop workers, volunteer office assistants, computer and resident media center assistants, and assistance with weekly Mass services. Volunteers are also needed to assist with the residents’ shoppers bus trips and at our numerous resident and public events.

Volunteers at the Indiana Veterans’ Home can be individuals, community groups, service organizations, students, school groups, and others.

Volunteering says “thank you” to our veterans and recognizes how others have made our lives richer by choosing to serve our country. Volunteering also provides self-fulfillment, personal growth, and even work experience!

For more information about how you may contribute, please contact our volunteer office directly via email at IVHVolunteers@ivh.in.gov or call 765-497-8638.

“No matter how big and powerful government gets, and the many services it provides, it can never take the place of volunteers.”
