Emergency Vehicle (Pursuit) Training

Emergency Vehicle Communications Training (aka Pursuit Training)

This class is available for dispatchers who never had the experience of calling a pursuit and for seasoned dispatchers who want to keep up their skills! This training is partnered with the ILEA Basic Course for City and County officers and provides a unique opportunity to work with new recruits coming to your agency.

Attendees will learn about components of vehicle and foot pursuits, echo procedures, Telecommunicator duties, broadcasting principles, documentation, interoperability talk groups, and other topics.   This class will be hands on learning experience of calling pursuits set by national standards.   The schedule for this course is as follows:

  • It is imperative to arrive on time for this training.  Late arrivals will not be guaranteed permission to attend the class.
  • This course will count towards  6.0 CDE hours of In-Service.
  • Training material will be sent  prior to class. It is imperative to study the material provided  when received as there will be a written test covering the written material.
  • To attend, dispatchers must have a minimum of 40 hours experience of radio dispatch talk time.

Due to the one-on-one nature of the training, availability is limited to 4 students per session. T
