James R. Oliver has served as the Brown County Prosecutor since 1999. During his tenure as Prosecutor, he has emphasized improvement in domestic violence prosecution, drug abuse prevention, victim services and a strong presence in the schools.
Mr. Oliver has lectured extensively to police, prosecutors and the public on issues of domestic violence and prescription drug investigation and prosecution. He has served on faculty for trial advocacy courses at both the state and national level.
Mr. Oliver is a 1992 graduate of Indiana University Law School, cum laude. Prior to becoming Prosecutor, he was a deputy prosecutor in Marion County and a deputy Indiana attorney general. He lives near Nashville with his wife and two sons. He is active in the Nashville United Methodist Church, the Brown County Lions Club, Mother's Cupboard Community Kitchen, and Cub and Boy Scouts.
