Current Land Acquisition Activities
Land acquisition for the CR 300 North and US 421 / Old US 421 projects is in the final stages. All of the affected property owners have been contacted and offers made. The documentation and payments for parcels along these two projects are being finalized. If you own property directly adjacent to one of these roadways and have not been contacted by an appraiser or buyer, additional right of way is not required from your property.
Appraisals for the Overpass Road project have been completed and offers have been made to all of the affected property owners. If you have not been contacted from an appraiser or buyer yet, additional right of way is not required from your property.
Most of the appraisals for the interchange project have been completed and the buying process has begun. Offers to the remaining property owners are expected to be made soon.
The appraisal process has begun on the CR 250 West project. Affected property owners should be hearing from appraisers soon if you have not already been contacted.
If you have specific questions about the appraisal process, please contact project facilitator Pankaj Desai at 317-232-5214, or pdesai@indot.in.gov
Land Acquisition Process
During construction of major transportation projects, it may be necessary to purchase private property on either a temporary or permanent basis. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) follows established laws and procedures when determining the quantity and value of all land, improvements and damages for each piece of property.
The federal government provides detailed information about the land acquisition process and helps you understand your rights before, during and after any temporary or permanent right-of-way purchase.
