General Information

INDOT Employment Opportunities

Every day, our employees work to plan, build, maintain, and operate a superior transportation system with the goal of enhancing Indiana’s safety, mobility and economic growth and providing top-notch customer service.  Whether you are an established professional in the transportation field, or at the start of your career, the Indiana Department of Transportation has exciting and challenging opportunities for you.

It takes a vast diversity of employees to meet these challenges: highway and construction engineers, project managers, highway technicians, signal technicians, surveyors, mechanics, engineering assistants, and administrative personnel, as well as professionals in the communications, finance, human resources, information technology, and legal fields.

To apply for open positions, visit the State Job Bank.  To explore state employment, visit the Indiana State Personnel website at www.in.gov/jobs.

INDOT Employment Programs

Cooperative Education Program integrates academics and classroom learning with invaluable on-the-job experience for civil engineering students.
Graduate Engineer Development Program allows graduate engineers real-world experience in a full-time position, as well as the chance to sample the many areas of INDOT.
Highway Technician Program is intended to provide training and growth opportunities for designated INDOT employees working in the field.  This training includes classroom instruction, computer-based and hands-on training, as well as on-the job experience.
Seasonal Employment is available during the peak activity times of the year—summer construction and winter maintenance.
Summer Employment is available through the Governor's Public Service Summer Internship Program which allows college students short-term professional and/or technical experience in State government.  Applications for this program are accepted in the winter months through the State Job Bank.
