The Federal Section 5310 grant program is intended to enhance mobility for seniors and persons with disabilities by providing funds for programs to serve the special needs of transit-dependent populations beyond traditional public transportation services.
Eligible Recipients
Private non-profit organizations or local units of government in rural areas with less than 50,000 population, or small urban areas 50,000 to 199,999 population as defined by the Federal Transit Administration.
INDOT does not provide funding to areas over 200,000 population (Lake/Porter counties, South Bend, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Indianapolis, Clark/Floyd counties) should contact their local Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). Eligible Activities
Specialized transportation projects planned, designed, and carried out to meet the special needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities when public transportation is insufficient, inappropriate, or unavailable.

Section 5310 Grant Application Notice
The Section 5310 grant applications will be made available each year in January. For information or questions regarding the application process, please contact Brian Jones at bjones@indot.in.gov.
Please note that available funding is limited, and priority for awards is given to existing Section 5310 grantees.
