Town Marshals
The Indiana Law Enforcement Academy also offers a basic training program for town marshals and their deputies consisting of over 300 hours. To be eligible, the officer must be from a town which has no more than one marshal and two deputies. Officers are required to complete EMS awareness training in their community as part of the course. An officer must complete the marshal's school within the same one year limit as required in the Basic Course. Graduates are fully certified officers in Indiana, however they are still required to graduate from the Basic Course if they later accept employment with a larger police agency.
