Indianapolis- The Indiana Civil Rights Commission is sponsoring a Cultural Competence Training for law enforcement and the legal system work force on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Indiana State Police Youth Education & Historical Center in Indianapolis.

The full-day training (7:30 am-4:30 pm) will provide attendees:

  • A working understanding of issues of population diversity and cultural complexities in serving diverse populations
  • A thorough knowledge of how race, gender, ethnicity, economic status and other socio-demographic characteristics affect workforce and institutional operations
  • The ability to identify diversity challenges in law enforcement and outline possible practical strategies
  • To gain crucial insights into how bridging of disparity concerns within the law enforcement and court systems can help mitigate diversity challenges
  • To begin the journey, or maintain the path, toward being cultural competent
