The Indiana State Excise Police Recruit School is 9 weeks long and is housed at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield, Indiana. Recruits receive over 320 hours of training in various topics, including ATC law, criminal law, Physical Tactics, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Firearms and STOPS. Recruits must reside at ILEA Monday through Friday and are released on the weekends. Recruits will participate in a vigorous physical fitness program and are strongly encouraged to report to Recruit School in peak physical condition.
