Mission

The mission of the Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) is to conduct train, advise, assist, support and liaison operations with allied and partner nation foreign security forces worldwide.  SFABs are permanent and dedicated forces of the U.S. Army specially trained in combat advisory missions. Training in the SFAB includes foreign languages, cultural training, foreign weapons training, advanced medical training and other enhanced training. All SFAB soldiers who attend and graduate from training at the Military Advisor Training Academy (MATA) receive advanced training in driving, medicine and survival, evasion, resistance and escape (SERE).

Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFABs) are specialized United States Army units whose core mission is to conduct training, advising, assisting, enabling and accompanying operations with allied and partner nations. These units are composed primarily of non-commissioned officers and commissioned officers selected from units and trained at the Military Advisor Training Academy (MATA) at Fort Benning, Georgia. SFABs improve on the Army's ad-hoc solutions, which relied heavily on conventionally-organized Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) for the last 17 years. SFABs allow the Army to gradually reduce the demand for conventional BCTs for combat advising, allowing BCTs to focus on readiness for warfighting against near-peer threats.

Soldier and Family Readiness Center

Full-time readiness is the responsibility of each individual soldier and is not something that begins and ends with deployment. Being ready means taking proactive steps to acquire necessary skills and knowledge. It also means taking care of yourself and your family. Soldier and Family Readiness Group volunteers can help by providing avenues of support and assistance. We’re a command-sponsored organization mandated by higher headquarters. Our network includes our soldiers, those they consider family and the surrounding community.
