In Indiana we truly honor our vets through a new program under Governor Eric Holcomb's Next Level Veterans initiative. The Honor Our Vets program offered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) is specifically designed to help employers recruit qualified active duty, veterans and retired military personnel to the state by offering up to $5,000 in relocation assistance.
Military veterans must accept a job with a participating Indiana employer* to access this funding. Eligible expenses vary by employer and are outlined in their relocation policy. You are encouraged to contact the participating employer to verify eligible relocation expenses.
In addition to relocation assistance, program funding can be used towards the down payment and other costs related to the purchase of a home. IHCDA can assist qualified veterans with getting a Veterans Administration (VA) home loan and access to their other homebuyer programs that make purchasing a home more affordable.
About VA Loans
A VA home loan helps Service members, Veterans, and eligible surviving spouses become homeowners. As part of their mission to serve you, VA provides a home loan guaranty benefit and other housing-related programs to help you buy, build, repair, retain, or adapt a home for your own personal occupancy.
VA home loans are provided by private lenders, and through the Honor Our Vets Program, it is done through IHCDA’s participating lenders. The VA guarantees a portion of the loan, enabling the lender to provide you with more favorable terms.
*The $5,000 is reimbursable by participating Indiana employers.
