In Indiana we truly honor our vets through a new program under Governor Eric Holcomb's Next Level Veterans initiative. The Honor Our Vets program offered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) is specifically designed to keep and welcome qualified active duty, veterans and retired military personnel to the state.
How does it work?
Military veterans accepting a job with a participating Indiana employer* can access up to $5,000 that can be used to cover relocation expenses, closing costs or can be used toward a down payment of a new home. Additionally, IHCDA can assist you with getting a VA loan and other homebuyer programs to make purchasing a home more affordable.
About VA Loans
A Veterans Administration (VA) home loan helps Service members, Veterans, and eligible surviving spouses become homeowners. As part of their mission to serve you, VA provides a home loan guaranty benefit and other housing-related programs to help you buy, build, repair, retain, or adapt a home for your own personal occupancy.
VA home loans are provided by private lenders, and through the Honor Our Vets Program, it is done through IHCDA’s participating lenders. The VA guarantees a portion of the loan, enabling the lender to provide you with more favorable terms.
How do I apply?
- Find an IHCDA participating lender to see if you qualify.
- A homebuyer education course (Framework) is a great way to learn the steps to borrowing and buying a new home.
*The $5,000 is reimbursable by participating Indiana employers. Access a list of participating Indiana employers.
