Register Today for Story Time Boot Camps

Hoosier Heritage Day @ the Indiana State Fair Story Time Boot Camp from the Indiana State Library includes lots of ideas using music, manipulatives, books and parents to enhance your Story Time programming. Suzanne Walker, Children's Services Consultant, will facilitate several three hour Story Time workshops over the next three months at the following locations:

  • Rushville Public Library – Rushville: 8/27 @ 9:00 AM
  • Carmel Clay Public Library – Carmel: Date: 9/5 @ 9:00 AM
  • Vermillion County Public Library – Newport: Date: 9/12 @ 9:00 AM
  • Allen County Public Library – Fort Wayne: Date: 9/17 @ 1:30 PM
  • Ohio Township Public Library System – Newburgh: Date: 9/18 @ Noon (CDT)
  • New Albany Floyd Co. Public Library – New Albany: Date: 9/26 @ 10:00 AM
  • Mooresville Public Library – Mooresville: Date: 10/3/2013 @ 9:00 AM
  • Jay County Public Library – Portland: Date: 10/18/2013 @ 9:30 AM
  • Remington Carpenter Township Public Library: Date: 10/30 @ 9:30 AM

Inaugural Library Leadership Academy Releases Capstone Projects

Indiana Library Leadership AcademyCongratulations to the inaugural cohort of the Indiana Library Leadership Academy for completing their year-long projects and a big thanks to the support and cooperation of their member institutions! Here is a summary of group members and projects from the year:

Capstone Cobras: (Brandon Bowen - IPFW Helmke Library; Brenda Campbell - Jennings County Public Library; Ruth Frasur, Hagerstown-Jefferson Township Library; Lynn Mehringer - Lincoln Heritage Public Library; Carrie Sanders –Deer Run Elementary School, MSD of Pike Township) Project Summary: Capstone Cobras created a resource for libraries to streamline the outreach planning and implementation process. The TOOLbox (Tools for Optimizing Outreach by Libraries), was developed for use by librarians in a variety of settings to facilitate efficient workflows. Capstone Cobras also hope it can become a succession document within the library.

ConvergeIN: (William Weare Jr. – IUPUI; Katherine Marschall – Saint Mary’s College; Jamie Beckman – Carmel Clay Public Library; Heather McNabb – Poseyville Carnegie Public Library; Gigi Shook – Center Grove Community Schools; Alexis Caudell – Mitchell Community Public Library) Project Summary: ConvergeIN is a voluntary community of librarians and/or library workers which connects people based on shared interests and skills. The project utilizes technology to create visual representations of connections. The project makes it possible for these people to have the opportunity to discover that they share a common interest in community engagement and explore the topic together.

Mindful Munchkins: (Christina Wray – Indiana University; Amanda Mawhorter – Noble County Public Library; Donna Browne – Muncie Public Library; Heidi Huff – Indiana University East; Jennifer Wyatt – Jeffersonville Township Public Library) Project Summary: Assess early childhood literacy programs, specifically Every Child Ready to Read which is distributed by the Indiana State Library to all public libraries in the state of Indiana as well as supported by free statewide trainings.

Tsarinas of the Universe: (Marie Brown – Young Adult Librarian; Susan David deMaine – IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law; Georgeann Doan – Lawrenceburg Public Library District; Julie Elliott – Indiana University South Bend; Margaret Moutseous – St. Mary’s Medical Center Library; Pamela Overbay – Western Wayne Schools) Project Summary: To gather innovative practices that libraries have implemented including personal stories from Indiana librarians to show importance of innovating to remain relevant to our communities.

Eureka: (Tina Baich – IUPUI; Jenn Brower – New Haven High School; Darcy Davidson – Eckhart Public Library; Susan Eberhardt – Warsaw Community School Corporation; David Peter – Vincennes University) Project Summary: Statewide directory of all cultural institutions (libraries, museums, archives, historical societies, etc.)


UPDATE: Online License Renewals Now Available

The online renewal platform for grandfathered library licenses is now functional and available. renewed online effective immediately.

Your login ID and password are your license #. Don’t know your license number? Search for it on the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency website. Visa, MasterCard, Discover credit and debit cards are accepted. There is a $4.57 credit card processing fee in addition to the $50 for renewing your license. If you prefer to renew through the mail, there is no additional fee outside the $50.
