"Hometown Heroes" is the theme of the 18th Annual GAL/CASA Conference which will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Wyndham West Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana. Poet, philosopher and author Noah benShea will be the keynote speaker for the conference this year. There will be 15 different breakout sessions offered throughout the day on topics such as domestic violence, engaging older youth, personal safety, drug abuse, sexual abuse, working with LGBTQ youth, etc.
The Indiana State Office of GAL/CASA, along with the Division of Child Services has scheduled a GAL Attorney Training on November 17, 2014 for attorneys serving as GAL in juvenile court. The training will be held in Indianapolis at 30 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN. There is no cost for the training, and attendees will receive 5 CLE hours and 1 hour of Ethics. The topics of the training include the identification and treatment of child abuse and neglect, and early child and adolescent development. The training meets the statutory requirements for GAL attorneys serving in juvenile court.
