Meeting
The Environmental Sustainability Commission meets at 7:00 p.m the Third Tuesday of each month at Porter Town Hall, 303 Franklin St, Porter, IN 46304.
Members
The Commission shall be composed of seven (7) members appointed as follows:
1. Five (5) citizen members, all of whom are residents of the Town of Porter, shall be appointed by the Town Council President, with the advice of the Town Council.
2. Two (2) members shall be students that represent a public and/or private middle and/or high school located in Jackson Township, Westchester Township, Liberty Township, and/or Pine Townhsip in Porter County, Indiana. The student members shall be nominated by the principal or a teacher or guidance counselor in their respective middle and/or high school and shall be appointed by the Town Council President.
3. Citizen members appointed under Section 2-129 (a)(2)(i) shall be appointed for terms of two (2) years. Student members appointed under Section 2-129 (a)(2)(i) shall be appointed for terms of one (1) year.
Purpose
The purpose of the Commission shall be to promote environmental sustainability and conservation of natural resources in the Town of Porter for the public good, and in furtherance thereof.
