Morgan County Leadership Academy Explores the Sheriff's Office and Jail

Morgan County, June 13, 2023 — The Morgan County Sheriff's Office recently had the privilege of hosting a tour for members of the Morgan County Leadership Academy (MCLA). The visit offered an opportunity for local citizens and future leaders to gain valuable insights into the operations and responsibilities of the Sheriff's Office.

The Morgan County Leadership Academy, established in 1994, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering leadership development within the community. The academy aims to facilitate peer-to-peer networking, provide county insights and resources, enhance skills, and promote active leadership involvement in serving the diverse communities of Morgan County.

The tour of the Sheriff's Office and Jail was organized to help participants gain a comprehensive understanding of law enforcement and correctional practices within the county. Sheriff Richard Myers and Jail Commander David Rogers warmly welcomed the MCLA members and guided them through various areas of the facility, including the sheriff's office and Jail Division.

During the tour, the MCLA participants had the opportunity to engage in informative discussions with Jail Commander Rogers, Lieutenant Jacob Babbs and Lieutenant Andrew Moore. They learned about the daily operations, challenges, and initiatives undertaken by the Jail Division to ensure public safety and uphold the law in Morgan County.

The visit to the Sheriff's Office allowed the MCLA participants to witness the professionalism, commitment, and teamwork demonstrated by law enforcement officers and correctional staff.
