Suicide Prevention

According to the Indiana Youth Institute, one in five high school students in 2015 had or were considering suicide. In Indiana, suicide is the second leading cause of death for middle and high school aged Hoosiers. In addition, an FBI review of past school shootings discovered nearly half of school-aged active shooters had thoughts of suicide or at-risk behavior.

If you have thoughts of death or suicide, do one of the following immediately:

  1. Contact a doctor;
  2. Go to the emergency room; or
  3. Call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433).
