American Suburban Utilities
UPDATE (1-13-2020): ASU submitted a November 7, 2019 compliance filing seeking to implement Phase 3 rates. The OUCC objected on December 9, 2019. The IURC has opened a subdocket to consider the OUCC's concerns and has scheduled a pre-hearing conference for January 27, 2020.
American Suburban Utilities, Inc. (ASU) provides sewage disposal service in Tippecanoe County. On November 30, 2016, ASU received IURC approval of a three-phase rate increase due to capital projects.
The IURC order will allow the monthly residential flat rate to rise from $47.50 to $48.89 for now, and to eventually rise to $76.92 when the final phase is implemented.
In its March 2016 proposed order, ASU sought to raise its monthly residential flat rate to $85.17. The OUCC - in its April 2016 proposed order - recommended limiting the eventual increase to $60.80. Proposed orders are the equivalent of closing arguments.
For an overview of testimony the OUCC filed in January 2016, please see the agency's news release.
The OUCC issued an October 2015 news release to invite consumer comments. An IURC public field hearing was held in West Lafayette on November 16, 2015.

The order requires ASU to credit back interim rate payments it has collected in six equal installments.
This case was consolidated with ASU's financing request in Cause Number 44700. ASU's previous base rates were set in 2000.
