Santa's Workshop Extravaganza!
Saturday, November 15th from 12pm to 3pm

This year’s Santa’s Workshop is shaping up to be one of our best yet! It’s a magical day where kids of all ages can pick out gifts for their family, friends, and even themselves - no matter their financial situation. At the door, children will receive NMPL Bucks to spend in our Blocher Community Room, and they’re welcome to bring any bucks they’ve earned throughout the year.
Our Santa’s Elves (aka NMPL staff and dedicated community volunteers) have been busy all year creating a beautiful variety of handcrafted items: cozy scarves, adorable puppy chew toys, festive ornaments, hand-carved bowls, dolls, aprons, blankets, and so much more! Adults are highly encouraged to join the fun, too as purchases made with real dollars help support the Friends of the Library and our ongoing library programming!
To make gift-giving even easier, a free gift-wrapping station will be set up in the Adult Department, so all your treasures are ready to place under the tree! That’s one item of your holiday to-do list.
Think you’ll be feeling hungry during the event? We’ve got that covered! Amor Colombian Food will selling their famous arepas in the Library’s Makerspace. Enjoy a tasty, convenient lunch without having to leave the library - or worry about packing a meal!
Even more exciting? We'll also have a petting zoo, Santa visits, and a harp concert to wrap the whole thing up.
Event Schedule:
- 12pm through 2pm - Holiday Shopping in the Blocher Community Room - Kids spend their NMPL Bucks on gifts, while adults shop to support the library!
- 1pm through 3pm - Mini Holiday Petting Zoo (Outdoors in the Seed-To-Table Pergola) - Visit with local favorites, Animal Grams… and we’ve heard a baby reindeer might make a special appearance!
- 1:30pm through 2:30pm - Visit with Santa (Adult Department, First Nook) - Get your Christmas card photos ready and capture a magical memory with Santa himself!
- 3:00 pm - Holiday Harp Concert with Anna Hagen (Blocher Room) - End the day with beautiful holiday music! Seating is limited, so arrive a little early to claim your spot. (Doors for the concert will open at 2:45pm).
We can't wait to celebrate the holidays with our NMPL family. We'll see you at the Santa’s Workshop Extravaganza!

Donate To Santa's Workshop
Santa's Workshop is an AMAZING program for multiple reasons, but the main one is that EVERY CHILD, no matter what financial insecurity they may be facing, is able to "buy" gifts for the people they love. This means so much to these kids. Without this workshop, some children would have no other way of buying presents.
Typically, NMPL staff members work all year long to create crafts, toys, and ornaments for the event, but we want to open it up to our amazing community.
Are you a creator who is running out of reasons to create? Do you make incredible knitted crafts, but have nothing to do with them? Do you paint gorgeous works of art but have no space left on your walls? If so, we just might have the perfect solution for you… donate to NMPL's Santa's Workshop event!
This is the perfect opportunity to craft your heart out AND have an outlet for all your creations. Donations should be clean, neat, and from smoke free environment and kept away from pets/pet hair in order to be allergy friendly. All donations can be brought to the front desk. This is an annual event, so we will accept donations constantly, every year, all year long!
Need some ideas? Knitted goods, paintings, wood working, cross-stitch or embroidery pieces, scarves, hats, blankets, crocheted animals, resin or polymer clay pieces, homemade home décor, we'll happily take it! We've already had some amazing donations, and this is shaping up to be our best workshop yet! But we still have time to collect more. We'll be accepting donations for the 2024 Workshop event through December 2nd, but any donations that come after that time will be kept for next year.
So keep those crafts coming and thank you for making a difference!
