Unlicensed Shops and Unsafe Tattoos

Never have any type of body modification done at an unlicensed shop or by an unlicensed artist, often called "scratchers". Often working out of homes, garages, barns, or other facilities, "scratchers" don't follow the same precautions as a legitimate artist. Any unlicensed body modification increases the chances you will:

• Contract an infectious disease such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, HIV, or a staph infection
• Have an allergic reaction
• Experience scarring
• Have MRI complications

Unlicensed artists are subject to a fine of $500.00/day per violation.

Report an unlicensed body modification to the Harrison County Health Department. Reports can be made anonymously.

Never get a tattoo done by an unlicensed tattoo artist!
