Scope and Content:

The collection consists of a letter written by Mary K. Beard to Marguerite Anderson of the Indiana State Library, regarding research carried on by Mrs. Beard’s niece, Mrs. Russo, about Mrs. Beard’s father, Eli F. Ritter.  Mrs. Beard thanks Miss Anderson for asking about biographical material about herself and her husband, Charles A. Beard, co-author of many books and mentions her new-found interest in her own ancestry.  She provides information about their daughter, Miriam, also in Who’s Who and their son, William, a professor at the University of Wisconsin, himself an author and co-author, with his father, of The American Leviathan.
